Logistic Team Leader

Summary:

The Logistics Team Leader will be responsible for inventory control, methods, planning and international shipping documentation.  This position will support customer service and delivery activities by coordinating and directing employees in shipping and receiving.  It requires a high level of organization, time management and attention to detail to ensure that customer orders are prepared and shipped accurately and on time.  The position will not take disciplinary action but can recommend it.  The Logistics Team Leader provides support by knowing all the jobs performed by his/her team members, so they can relieve them when necessary.  This position will respond to problems such as line stops, and on cord pulls, and takes the lead role in kaizen activities within the department.  The Logistics Team Leader uses standardized work audit sheets (such as 5S, PM checks, and others) to perform daily checks of team members to ensure employees are following standardized work procedures and to surface problems. 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as:
    • Rules and regulations
    • Operating and Maintenance Instructions
  • Conduct effective verbal communication with all levels within the organization (including management level executives)
  • Communicate effectively in written format (including e-mails, letters, routine reports, etc.) for both internal and external recipients.
  • Establish and maintain productive and professional rapport with co-workers, customers, vendors, etc.
  • Calculate percentages, discounts, interest, proportions.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or drawing format.
  • Must be able to professionally and comfortably interact with all departments.
  • Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Comprehend and interpret a variety of technical and manufacturing documents in order to evaluate and make the necessary decisions
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common:
    • Manufacturing methods
    • Bills of material

Education and /or Experience

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Logistics/Supply Chain experience
  • Experience in office environment and/or technical training
  • 2+ years in an environment that ships 40+ line items per day

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Lean experience and/or education
  • Formal or informal leadership experience
  • Inventory management experience
